You may recall Media’s amazing run to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA, from this past summer in which they captivated the attention of sports fans in the Philadelphia region. The Delco squad defeated Washington, D.C., 2-0, in the Mid-Atlantic Regional championship game in Bristol, CT, courtesy of a walk-off home run by Trevor Skowronek. Skowronek’s round-tripper broke a scoreless tie in extra innings. Take a look…

Trevor Skowronek’s walk-off homer to win the Mid-Atlantic Regional title and lift Media to the LLWS!

The win lifted the team to the LLWS appearance where the team was bumped from the double elimination tournament after its third game. Media lost its LLWS opener to the Southwest Region champion, Needville, TX, 2-1. Needville went on to reach the U.S. Championship Game. Next up, in the elimination bracket, the Delco squad was able to drop the New England Region champion, Gray, ME, 5-3, knocking that opponent out, before being eliminated themselves, a day later, by the Metro Region champion, Smithfield, RI, 7-2.

But it was quite a whirlwind summer for the boys who won the Pennsylvania State Championship. They got to take part in the Major League Baseball Little League Classic which saw the hometown Phillies face off with the Washington Nationals in a nationally televised game on ESPN that is played as part of the Little League World Series festivities in Williamsport, PA. The Media squad also had the honor of being cheered on by members of the Phillies who arrived at the Little League ballpark in Williamsport as the team was in action.

The Delco youngsters will be joined by another great team as the 1973-74 Philadelphia Flyers will be honored as the PSWA’s Living Legends-Team as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first-ever Stanley Cup title. Bernie Parent will headline the list of Flyers greats to appear. He’ll be joined by Bob Kelly, Dave Schultz, Orest Kindrachuk, and Joe and Jimmy Watson.

Also slated to appear at the 119th PSWA Dinner will be Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Aaron Nola (PSWA Humanitarian), former Eagles linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Sr. will accept the Amateur Athlete of the Year on behalf of his son, Jeremiah Trotter Jr., Clemson football All-American linebacker and 2023 Butkus Award finalist; Philly’s favorite comedian and sports personality impersonator Joe Conklin will entertain the crowd; and stay tuned as we reveal the PSWA Most Courageous Sportsperson of the Year!
