Flyers radio team receiving PSWA’s 2023 Bill Campbell Broadcasting Award
The Philadelphia Sports Writers Association is proud to announce that Philadelphia Flyers radio broadcaster Tim Saunders and his former partner Steve Coates will be honored by the PSWA with its annual Bill Campbell Award for broadcasting excellence. Saunders and Coates, one of the most entertaining team radio announcing duos in Philly sports history, will be among the honored guests at the PSWA’s 119th banquet on Wednesday, Jan. 17 at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Cherry Hill, NJ. Cocktail hour starts at 5 p.m., followed by the dinner.
Steve Coates retired following the Flyers 2022-23 campaign. He had two stints as the color commentator for Flyers radio broadcasts (1992-99 and 2014-23). Saunders, who has been on the air in Philly as the Flyers play-by-play man since 1997, is now joined on Flyers radio broadcasts by former Flyer Todd Fedoruk.
The legendary Flyers broadcasting duo joins other honored guests including, the PSWA’s Team of the Year, Media Little League, which reached the 2023 Little League World Series, who will be honored next month by the PSWA.
