Parent won back-to-back Conn Smythe Trophies as the most outstanding NHL player in the 1974 and 1975 playoffs, leading the Flyers to consecutive Stanley Cups. Parent, Mario Lemieux (1991 and 1992) and Sidney Crosby (2016 and 2017) are the only players to win the award in back-to-back years.

Joining the legendary Parent for this 50th anniversary celebration will be Dave “The Hammer” Schultz, Don Saleski, Bob “The Hound” Kelly, Orest Kindrachuk, Joe Watson and Jimmy Watson. These former Flyers greats have call onfirmed they will also attend the association’s 119th banquet. Schultz, Kelly and Saleski were wingers on those famed Broad Street Bullies teams, and they played key roles in winning consecutive Stanley Cups. Kindrachuk was a center while the Watson brothers excelled on defense.

The association will honor many other athletes and sports personalities including the duo of Tim Saunders and Steve Coates who will accept the Bill Campbell Award, which is presented for broadcasting excellence. They were the Flyers’ radio team before Coates retired after last season.

Also being honored will be the PSWA’s Team of the Year, Media Little League. The baseball team, consisting of 11-13-year-olds from the town of Media, PA, in Delaware County, won the state title, the Mid-Atlantic Region title and advanced to the Little League World Series in August of this past year.

Local comedian Joe Conklin will once again join us and bring his special brand of Philly sports humor to the evening. Undoubtedly, he’ll be sure to be joined by some of the voices of many of his famous Philly sports friends.
