The PSWA is THRILLED to name Jalen Brunson our Amateur Athlete of the Year. Brunson won two titles in three years with Villanova Basketball and earned the John R. Wooden Award and Naismith Men’s College Basketball Player of the Year honors in 2018. The Villanova floor general also took home Big East, Associated Press player of the year and a slew of other awards. In 2018, Brunson lead the Big East in field goals (270) and points (756).

Brunson joins the likes of Mark Spitz, Carl Lewis, Elena Delle Donne, Matt Ryan, Brian Westbrook, Aaron McKie, Paul Palmer, Brian Finneran and Joe Theismann among others as PSWA Athlete of the year.

Note: Unfortunately Jalen will not be able to attend this years banquet as he’s traveling with the Dallas Mavericks, “It’s a real honor, sorry I can’t be there, but thank you”, said Brunson.

You can view his acceptance speech on our Facebook page.

The 115th annual Philadelphia Sports Writers Association dinner takes place Monday January 21st at the Crowne Plaza Cherry Hill. Tickets are available here.
